Indie artists are proving they have what it takes to make it in the shark world we know as the music industry!
Independent artist ‘Fk Woodz’ just dropped his new single ‘Options.’ We are loving the new music from him. The Chicago native who now resides in Atlanta, presumably one of the most notorious cities for Hip-Hop, has a team behind him in support of his music and creative ability. FK Woodz has some musical skills on the piano as well and can play by ear giving him an advantage when it comes to the production aspect of creating music. The budding artist started out in a music group with his cousin where they recorded a couple of projects but, it was not until going solo that he truly took his career much more serious. The music industry is no joke and it is refreshing to see such hard-working artists stay productive during 1 of the hardest years of the decade. 2020 has been challenging to say the least, but luckily with positive reinforcement and staying prayed up you are able to make it through such stressful times. The beat featured on the track is a catchy snare beat produced by StardustSzn. We have a little 1 on 1 with FK Woodz below. Check out some cool insight from him and go stream the new single ‘Options’ out now!!
- Tell us about the vision for your song ‘Options’?
The vision for options was pretty simple from an artist standpoint. I wanted to create a record that would target the regional market that I am in. Something that is fun and catchy yet still has a message. I did not want to implement a ‘A B C ‘rhyme but more of a seasoned writer’s style with a southern cadence.
- You are from Chicago, now living in Atlanta. Has moving here benefited your career?
Atlanta is the mecca for entertainment. Everything is poppin down here especially the music scene. I have met tons of producers and other artists. I’ve also had radio airplay. Atlanta is just where it’s at plan and simple.
- How often do you drop new music?
I am always recording new material, but you can look for me to drop new music every 6 – 8 weeks consistently.
- What are some of your challenges you struggle with as an independent artist?
What I struggle with the most as an artist is getting that big budget lol. Making good music is always the easy part but you need that budget behind you to push it where you want to go.
- Who would you collab with if given the opportunity?
My top collab would have to be Drake, but I am pretty much open to link up with just about any artist of any genre.
