The social media world has been buzzing for the past 72 hours about Hip Hop mogul, Jay Z’s recent business deal with the NFL. The Roc Nation CEO closed a entertainment deal which includes him being in charge of the Super Bowl halftime show. Many people are calling the ‘Money Ain’t a Thing’ rapper a big fat hypocrite for working with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Which also makes the story even more peculiar is the fact that Jay Z didn’t manage to get free agent football player Colin Kaeperncik picked up by a team. In fact sources say that Jay Z didn’t even speak to Colin before the deal was signed. With so much going on the world regarding police brutality, and even the recent events with the Eric Garner case, the NFL has stood silent time and time again on issues arising in the Black community. It will be interesting to see in which way Jay Z signing acts for the Super Bowl halftime show, will help with police brutality on innocent Black men.
With the recent discoveries, it’s no surprise that the football player’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab has spoken out on her social media account about her feelings on the matter. She did not appreciate Jay Z’s new deal with the NFL, and she criticized the rapper for working with the same people who tried to ‘bury’ her boyfriend for kneeling during the National Anthem, to bring awareness to police brutality in the community. With the new deal under way, Collin still has yet to be picked up by a team and Jay Z’s pockets just got a little fatter. Read what Nessa had to say below. What do you think about the situation? Is Jay Z a hypocrite for signing with the league?
This is what she had to say. “We will never turn our backs on @kaepernick7 because your idols decided to work with the same organization that is actively keeping Colin unemployed all because he peacefully protested against social injustice in black and brown communities, specifically police brutality. So really, how can Jay-Z and the NFL utter social justice in their partnership while keeping Colin unemployed because of his social justice work?
“It’s typical for the NFL to buy different PR looks to cover up their dirt-that’s nothing new. But what is disgusting and disappointing is Jay-Z let them use him. Whether Jay-Z knew it or not (I don’t doubt his intelligence-so I would think he knew) he helped the NFL bury who he said is an iconic figure, Colin Kaepernick.
“Don’t tell me there’s a ‘master plan and wait for it’ because the ONLY reason anything would ever change is because THE PEOPLE are loud and clear and won’t let the league buy their loyalty with their disingenuous moves. The people are letting the league and anyone who works with them know that they aren’t buying the bs.
