The entire world is morning the tragic accident that occurred Sunday morning in California regarding Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi and 7 other passengers aboard his rented Helicopter. The passengers were in route to a basketball game and took the chopper to arrive on time. For reasons out of anyone’s control, foggy weather prevented the helicopter from landing successfully and it crashed at 2,000 mph into the ground catching on fire immediately. Celebrities everywhere have taken to social media to wish their condolences and speak about the amazing person we all know as ‘Kobe Bryant’.
The Grammys held at the Staples Center, where the Lakers play, were a gloomy atmosphere as everyone felt saddened by the loss of so many beautiful people. The event’s host ‘Alicia Keys’ did her best to keep everyone in high spirts, and small tribute with her and Philadelphia’s own ‘Boyz 2 Men’ was put together to honor his legacy.
Better known as ‘The Black Mamba’, the 6 foot 6 basketball phenomenon brought joy to a lot of people all around the world. He shared a special bond with his 13 year old daughter ‘Gigi’, who wanted to follow in his foot steps of being a professional basketball player. Her dreams of attending UCONN were cut short and many people are beyond shocked about the entire situation.
His wife, Vanessa Bryant has been silent since Sunday, and just issued a statement via her Instagram account earlier today. We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately.
There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now. I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon.
I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way. Our love for them is endless — and that’s to say, immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them and bless them. Have them here with us, forever.
Thank you for sharing your joy, your grief and your support with us. We ask that you grant us the respect and privacy we will need to navigate this new reality.
