There has been so much drama and commotion with the latest news from Disney about their upcoming remake of ‘The Little Mermaid’. Since the popular red haired character has been given to singer and protege of Beyonce Knowles, “Hailey Bailey”, there has been a lot of people who were upset that she was chosen because she is African American. With opinions and racial remarks going as far as people creating hate groups regarding the matter on Facebook, this positive news is right on time. Queen Latifah landing this part was already what a lot of people were hoping for, and it is exciting to know that Disney producers were listening in. Queen Latifah is no rookie when it comes to singing in musicals ever since she stole the show in the classic 2007 drama ‘Hairspray”. The movie was about a pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad, who teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration. Queen Latifah has a dynamic vocal category and is a fabulous singer. The Grammy winning artist recently tweeted “Fortunately I know a little magic” .
